March 2003
The shallow coral gardens of the Red Sea are among the finest in the world and those in the Straits of Gabul and Tiran are no exception. Table corals, stag horn corals, brain corals, soft corals and sponges adorn the reefs of Stingray Station, Shoah Stur and Small Passage and the purple soft corals of Jolanda Reef in the National Park of Ras Mohammed are stunning. Ras Mohammed is rated as one of the top 10 diving venues in the world and is relatively unspoiled and is teeming with numerous species of gloriously coloured fish.
Our week aboard m/v Orchid took us north from Sharm to dive the wrecks of theThistlegorm, Dunravenand Kingston, and ended on the beautiful reefs of Thomas, Jackson and Woodhouse that surround Tiran Island.
