The Ghiannas D came to grief on the reef of Abu Nahas off the tip of Shedwan Island in the Red Sea. Despite the fact that the ship lies in fairly shallow water, it is protected from strong currents by the reef and is still very much in tact. The funnel and the bridge superstructure stand proud of the upper decks. The wreck is home to many large and colourful parrot fishes.
